Zither Banjo-£200

A very charming, unbranded zither banjo with characteristic disappearing 5th string. Given it’s value, I’ve spent more time getting this up and running than perhaps I should, but part of me wanted to challenge the widely held belief that these instruments are worhtless and unplayable.

The fretboard has been cleaned up and I’ve shimmed the neck slightly to improve the break angle over the newly fitted bridge. The original tuners are working well, the old vellum is sound and the neck is in good shape. Comes with a servicable old case (no handle). It’s covered in scratches but nothing structural.

It’s now playing very nicely with a surprising complexity of tone.

20 frets, scale length 660mm ( 26″), overall length 91cm, 8″ head.
