A nice English 5 string banjo by Thomas Fowle of Chatham. Ive not managed to find out much about him, but he seems to have been active for a decade or so either side of the turn of the 20th century.
My suspicion is that the pot is not original as it’s a one piece cast aluminium job, but the nect itself is beautifully made and has been well fitted to its new body.
It has a disappearing 5th string like a zither banjo, but has a more conventional peg arrangment.
Playing well and sounds gorgeous.
57cm scale length, 10″ pot
