This instrument goes by various different names and is traditionally played in several parts of South-Western Europe. It is essentially a sort of zither which is struck with a stick, providing a drone and a percussive accompaniment for a tabor-pipe.
This one has 6 strings and is currently tuned DAD. Five of the strings are gut and one is nylon.
It’s a bit rough aroung the edges and is a little heavier than it needs to be, but it’s solid and sounds great.
Overall length: 94cm.
