A very nice instrument built in 2015 by Atkin guitars in Kent. I’m selling this on behalf of my dear friend Jon Wilks who is a wonderful guitarist and singer, it’s been played and gigged by him and can be heard on his album ‘Before I Knew What Had Begun I Had Already Lost’.
This dates from the period when they were still using the Martin numbering system, so the ’28’ refers to the materials used, in this case rosewood back, sides and peghead overlay, with herringbone binding. It has a spruce top, mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard. Open back Grover tuners, and a fisherman under saddle pickup which is working well and sounds great. It has a bolt on neck which I think is very sensible.
It’s in great condition structurally although there are a fair few scratches on the body and a few dings on the neck and headstock, I’ve tried to photograph them all.
Plays well and sounds lovely.
Comes in an Atkin branded fitted hard case.
Scale length: 645mm/25.4 inches
