A nice little Windsor ‘model 3’ mandolin banjo, probably made in the 1920s.
Most mandolin banjos from this period are unplayable today but this one seems to have survived pretty well. It is comfortable to play and is sounding great.
It has a zither banjo type head tensioning mechanism. All the metalwork is incredibly solid and the original vellum head is still in good condition. It’s missing a couple of bits of binding on the back of the pot and the last two frets have been removed, with some loss to the ebony fingerboard.
Comes in a very tatty old hard case.
