An exquisite Lisbon style Portuguese guitar, made in Lisbon in 1903 by Augusto Vieira.
This is truly one of the nicest instruments I’ve had the pleasure of working on. I’ve done a pretty thorough job of bringing it back to life, including fully disassembling, cleaning and rebuilding the ‘leque’ or Preston tuners, all of which are now working very well.
It’s in lovely condition for its age, with the only real damage being a small crack in one of the side very near the neck joint. This has been repaired in the past and seems stable.
Six pairs of strings tuned DADEAD, with the bottom three courses tuned in octaves.
Plays very nicely and sounds completely wonderful.
