A very good modern replica of a bass rackett, this extraordinary little instrument has an inredibly low range, despite it’s diminutive size, thanks to the 9 parallel bores that snake their way up and down inside the body,
It has a range of a bit less than two octaves, from F1 to D3 (F1 is one semitone above the lowest note on a double bass/bass guitar).
When this arrived, the piroutte (in which the reed sits) had snapped off, so I recessed it slightly and have used a piece of brass tubing to connect it to the body. This is now airtight and working perfectly (and in fact stronger than it was originally). I have also replaced one of the white finger extensions that had snapped.
It is now playing very well and in tune at A=440, with a characteristically buzzy tone.
Plenty of minor scratches and some wear to the varnish.
Comes with one very good reed and a fitted hard case.
