Tenor Viol-£1400

A nice tenor viol which was sold to me as being made by Michael Plant but was almost certainly not made by him. There is a handwritten signature inside which is not legible, but would suggest that it was made in Mildenhall in 1979. If anyone can suggest a maker to me I’d be very glad to hear from you.

It’s a very well made thing, everything very neat and tidy so almost certainly a professional maker, however the choice of varnish is a bit unusual.

One small ding to the c-bout and it looks like the maker overshot slightly when sawing for the break in the back, otherwise in good order cosmetically and very solid structurally. It’s on the quiet side but would make an excellent first viol.

Comes with a soft carry bag.
