The waldzither represents the German branch of a family of instruments that includes the English guitar of the 18th century and the modern Portuguese guitar, all of which are characterised by having ‘preston’ style tuners. This example uses a zither type tuning lever to turn the pins.
Five courses tuned CGCEG (although other tunings are possible). No makers name, very nice fine-grained spruce for the top with inset pick guard, the rest of the instrument seems to be stained maple. Sounds good and plays well.
