I cannot say with any authority which of several countries this shawm comes from. My first guess would be Turkey, in which case it is a Zurna, but the same instrument is played in the balkans, the caucasus, the middle east and North Africa and goes by several different names.
This one appears to be made from plum. It is playing very nicely. Of the two listed on this website, this is one is the quieter.
